![]() ![]() ![]() The lack of leaders in our political system today is simply appalling. This is just the same type of bill that we got last session when a 300 mile fence was proposed but not funded. ![]() It is not surprising then, that calls for increasing the Border Patrol with a 1,000 new agents are a part of the bill. So the Democrat controlled Congress will stand to benefit substantially. Estimates have it that as many as two-thirds of these new "citizens" will choose the Democrat Party it is believed because the Democrats are the party of entitlements. The current bill will provide amnesty to somewhere around 11 million illegals. The only problem was that the Democratic Congress never funded the needs of the Border Patrol. Now, of course it was common knowledge that Reagan only signed the bill because he believed in the "tough enforcement measures" that were included in the bill to stem the tide of illegals. It was an amnesty bill directed at what was then a relatively small number of illegal aliens. In 1986 Ronald Reagan signed in to law Immigration Reform and Control Act. It is also clear that the American electorate has a short memory. One has to wonder what it will take to get the attention of the "representatives" that we elect in the so called bi-annual circus. The immigration bill is just another sign that our government (Senate and House of Representatives) are beholding to too many special interest groups that even well intentioned legislation is completely ignoring the will of most Americans. The urge to pass an immigration reform bill that really should be sold in a Walgreen's as a cosmetic cover-up, complete with blister packs. ![]()
